TCS Cushion Base Coat
Surface Preparation: Surface must be cleaned entirely of dust, dirt and debris. Repair of surface defects, depressions and cracks should be completed prior to application. All repairs must be flush and smooth to adjoining surfaces for optimum results. New asphalt must cure 30 days and new concrete must cure 28 days, prior to application of all TCS sport surfacing systems. Concrete surfaces should have a medium broom finish or similar roughened texture. TCS Concrete Primer shall be applied on properly prepared concrete prior to application of TCS Court Resurfacer with sand.
On concrete surfaces, ensure:
• No curing compounds are used
(except for water-based acrylic curing compounds)
• A vapor barrier and good perimeter drainage is installed to prevent
moisture accumulation beneath the court surface.
• Surface is acid etched with muriatic or phosphoric acid, after the 28 day
cure period, and rinsed well prior to application of TCS Coating System.
Mixing Procedures: Mix materials to a smooth uniform consistency with a drill mixing paddle, or other similar method. The following mix designs are based on 10 gallons of TCS Cushion Base Coat for ease of calculation:
TCS Cushion Base Coat .........10 gallons
Water.......................................3 gallons
Application: Apply with a soft rubber squeegee. Allow each application to thoroughly dry before applying next coat. Three coats of TCS Cushion Base Coat followed by two coats of TCS Cushion Top Coat are standard. Additional coats may be applied for increased resiliency and cushioning.
Coverage: Yield calculations are based on undiluted gallons of TCS Cushion Base Coat and vary according to surface texture and porosity:
.15 gallons per square yard per coat (.45 for 3 coats).
Drying Time: TCS Cushion Base Coat dries in 3-5 hours under optimum drying conditions. Low ambient or low surface temperature, shade, and high humidity increase drying time.
Clean Up: Wash tools in water before material dries.
VOC: This material contains less than 150 grams of volatile organic compounds per liter.
