Important Fence Post Requirements
The 10' x 16' Rally Master Backboard mounts to two 10-foot-tall round fence posts.
Rally Master Backboards can only be mounted to:
- 2-1/2" round fence posts
- 3" round fence posts
- 4" round fence posts
The existing posts must be suitable for either the Direct Connect or Off-Set mounting system.
Direct Connect Mounting
The Direct Connect Rally Master Backboard attaches directly to the existing round fence posts. This mounting option is designed for straight, plumb, and properly aligned fence posts or newly installed independent posts.
If either of the two mounting posts is bent, wind-damaged, or out of plumb, properly aligning the backboard panels with Direct Connect hardware may be difficult or impossible.
If either fence post is bent or out of plumb, select the Off-Set mounting option.
Off-Set Mounting
The Off-Set Rally Master Backboard is designed for installations where the existing fence posts are slightly out of plumb.
The Off-Set hardware kit includes support columns and adjustable brackets that allow the installer to compensate for minor post alignment problems and properly position the backboard panels.
Vertical Tennis Backboard
The Vertical Rally Master Backboard provides the traditional rebound preferred for a wide variety of tennis drills. Players can practice groundstrokes, volleys, serves, footwork, and repetitive stroke development while getting an excellent aerobic workout.
A vertical backboard also requires minimal court space, extending only approximately 4–6 inches inside the court fence.
8° Back-Sloped Tennis Backboard
The 8-degree Back-Sloped Rally Master Backboard creates a slightly lofted ball return that lands farther from the wall than the flatter, shorter rebound produced by a vertical backboard.
The additional loft gives players more time to prepare for the next shot and naturally positions them farther away from the practice wall. Rally Master's moderate 8-degree angle also maintains a practical rebound for close-range volley drills and advanced training.
The 8° back-sloped design extends approximately 21 inches inside the fence, providing an excellent balance between realistic ball return and efficient use of court space.
Reduced Rebound Noise
Rally Master's patent-pending vibration dampeners and mounting system are engineered to substantially reduce rebound noise. Testing indicates that the sound of a tennis ball striking the Rally Master Backboard is comparable to a tennis ball hitting a racquet and quieter than a basketball being dribbled on an asphalt court.
This reduced-noise design makes Rally Master an excellent choice for residential courts, tennis clubs, schools, and other facilities where practice-wall noise may be a concern.

Rally Master Backboard Sizing
Rally Master Backboards are manufactured in individual 10' H x 4' W panels. The 10' x 16' model consists of four panels.
The minimum Rally Master Backboard size is 10' x 12', with larger sizes available in 4-foot increments. There is no maximum length as long as the total width is divisible by four feet.
