TCS Tennis Court Base Neutral Ready Mix has the proper blend of graded silica sand and water already incorporated, eliminating the need to measure and add sand or water to the color coating. Simply add the required TCS Tint, mix thoroughly, and apply.
TCS Tennis Court Base meets or exceeds USTA, International Tennis Federation (ITF), and USA Pickleball specifications.

TCS Tint – Choose Your Two Court Colors
TCS Tint is a premium water-based liquid pigment dispersion formulated specifically for TCS acrylic court base coatings.
TCS Tint must be added to every bucket of TCS Tennis Court Base. Shake the TCS Tint thoroughly before adding it to the base, then mix completely to ensure consistent color throughout the coating.

Choose one color for the outer court area and a contrasting color for the in-bounds tennis playing area.
Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is critical for coating adhesion and long-term court performance.
New Asphalt
Allow new asphalt to cure for a minimum of 14 days before applying the acrylic surfacing system.
New Concrete
New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days.
Concrete surfaces should have a light-to-medium broom finish. Smooth concrete should be mechanically prepared, such as by shot blasting, to create the proper surface profile.
New concrete must also be acid etched and thoroughly washed. Never allow acid to dry on the concrete surface.
Existing Court Resurfacing
Clean & Repair Cracks
Remove dirt, vegetation, and loose material from cracks using a screwdriver, wire brush, or other suitable tool. Clean the cracks with water and allow them to dry thoroughly.
Fill cracks up to 1" wide with a suitable TCS Acrylic Crack Filler and allow repairs to dry completely before proceeding.
Clean the Surface
Sweep away dirt and loose debris. Scrub oil, gasoline, and other contaminated areas with household detergent and water.
Rinse the entire surface thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before applying surfacing materials.
Mixing Instructions
TCS Court Resurfacer With Sand: Add 2 gallons of water to every 5-gallon container and mix thoroughly.
TCS Tennis Court Base: Do not add water. Shake the selected TCS Tint before use, add the required tint to every pail, and mix thoroughly.
A drill and paddle mixer are recommended. For best results, use a minimum 9-amp mud-mixer-type drill.
Recommended Two-Color Tennis Court Application
For a typical 120' x 60' two-color tennis court:

Concrete courts only: Apply 1 coat of TCS Concrete Primer/Bonder using a short-nap roller. Primer is not required on asphalt courts.

Apply 1 coat of TCS Court Resurfacer With Sand using a soft rubber squeegee. Add 2 gallons of water to every 5-gallon container before application.

Apply 2 coats of TCS Tennis Court Base in the selected outside color over the entire 120' x 60' surface. Add the appropriate TCS Tint and mix thoroughly. Do not add water.

After the outside color has dried completely, measure, mark, and tape the in-bounds tennis court playing area.

Apply 2 coats of the selected second TCS Tennis Court Base color to the in-bounds playing area over the outside color.

Allow each coat to dry completely before applying additional coatings or playing lines.
A 50–60 durometer soft rubber squeegee is recommended for resurfacer and color coat application.
Professional Squeegee Application
Avoid applying acrylic court coatings when the pavement is excessively hot. In hot weather, application after approximately 11:00 AM can cause streaking, poor material flow, and overly rapid drying.
Maintain an 8–12" wide pile of material ahead of the squeegee. When adding more coating, pour directly into the center of the existing pile—never ahead of or behind it.
When using a 36" Sport Squeegee, use approximately the first third of the blade to move the material forward. The remaining two-thirds should glide over the freshly coated surface. Hold the squeegee at a slight angle, similar to a snowplow.
If ridges appear behind the trailing portion of the blade, apply additional downward pressure or slow your pace to reduce the amount of material being left on the surface.
Tennis Court Line Installation
Always use white chalk for court layout. Red and blue chalk can bleed through acrylic coatings and permanently stain the finished surface.
Measure the tennis court playing lines and mark the center of each line with a white colored pencil. Snap the layout using a white chalk line.
For professional-quality playing lines:

Tape the lines using a Line Taping Machine and high-quality, high-adhesion masking tape.

Apply 1 coat of TCS Line Primer with a roller or brush.

Allow the primer to dry to the touch.
-
Apply 1 coat of TCS Textured White Line Paint.
-
Allow the line paint to dry to the touch, then remove the masking tape.
Drying Time
Typical drying time is approximately 1–4 hours per coat, depending on temperature, humidity, shade, airflow, and other environmental conditions.
Allow every coat to dry completely before recoating, masking the second color area, or installing playing lines.
Weather & Application Conditions
For best results:

Surface and air temperatures must be at least 55°F and rising

Do not apply if temperatures are expected to fall below 55°F within 24 hours

Avoid application on excessively hot court surfaces

Do not apply if rain is imminent or forecast within 24 hours

In areas with evening dew or fog, begin coating in the morning
-
Stop coating by approximately 3:00 PM when early evening moisture is expected
Rain, fog, or dew contacting the coating before it has dried can damage or wash off freshly applied material.
Coverage
TCS Tennis Court Base covers approximately 90–100 sq. ft. per gallon, depending on pavement porosity and texture.
A 5-gallon pail typically covers approximately 450–500 sq. ft. per coat.
Because the Two Color Kit requires additional material for the contrasting in-bounds area, total material requirements depend on the court layout, surface condition, and application method.
Clean Up & Storage
Wash tools and application equipment with water before the material dries.
Do not freeze. Do not store below 50°F. Keep containers tightly closed and upright. Protect from direct sunlight and temperatures exceeding 100°F.
Precautions
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Do not take internally. If swallowed, contact a physician immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with water for 15 minutes and contact a physician.
Absorb spills and dispose of material in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
